Google Doodle celebrating Ahmed the Elephant
Elephant Ahmed was born in 1919 in the Kenyan jungles near Mount Marsabit. Not a lot is known about the early years of Ahmed the elephant. When trekkers in the mountains of Northern Kenya encountered Ahmed in the 1960s, he became the center of interest. After his large tusks were discovered, Ahmed became well-known worldwide and earned the moniker "The King of Marsabit."Ahmed stood apart from other elephants, according to the hikers, because of his enormous tusks, which reached the ground. Tales about "The King of Marsabit" started making the rounds in Kenya. In 1970, Ahmed the Elephant was the focus of several television shows, including an ABC series and a documentary.
