A Tesla robot viciously attacked an engineer, leaving a harrowing "trail of blood" strewn across the factory floor
The engineer was allegedly trapped by the robot, which then used its claws to sever his arm and back, leaving a trail of blood on the factory floor.
Malfunctioning Robot at Tesla's Giga Texas Injures Software Engineer in Shocking Incident
In a startling revelation, it has been reported that a software engineer at Tesla's Giga Texas factory in Austin suffered serious injuries when attacked by a malfunctioning robot designed for moving aluminum car parts. The incident, which occurred two years ago, came to light through a 2021 injury report detailing the unsettling encounter between the engineer and the rogue machine.
According to the report, the engineer was engaged in programming software for robots responsible for cutting car parts from freshly cast aluminum. During maintenance work, two robots were intentionally disabled, but a third was left inadvertently active, leading to the unexpected attack. The malfunctioning robot reportedly pinned the engineer and caused wounds on his back and arm, leaving a trail of blood on the factory floor. While the injuries were described as serious, the report notes that the engineer suffered an open wound on his left hand that was not deemed severe. Tesla has chosen not to provide comments on the incident.
Although no additional robot-related injuries were reported at the Texas factory in 2021 or 2022, concerns about safety lapses at the facility have been raised. Injury reports submitted to the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) indicate a high injury rate at Giga Texas. Notably, nearly one in 21 workers at the factory reported injuries last year, a rate significantly higher than the median industry average of one in 30 workers in the automotive sector.
The report sheds light on allegations made by current and former Tesla employees, suggesting that the company tends to compromise on construction, maintenance, and operational safety, potentially placing workers at risk. In a separate incident highlighted in the report, an explosion resembling a sonic boom occurred in 2022 due to a water-submerged-in-molten-aluminum incident in the castings area.
The revelations underscore the importance of maintaining rigorous safety standards in industrial settings, prompting renewed attention to workplace practices and employee well-being at Tesla's Giga Texas factory.
