A tourist who misplaced more than Dh76,000 ($17,000 and Dh14,000) during New Year celebrations in Dubai had his money returned within half an hour, thanks to the swift response of Dubai Police. The incident unfolded when the tourist contacted the authorities at 2 am, reporting the loss of his bag in a taxi while returning to his hotel after the celebrations.
Upon receiving the report, the police immediately initiated efforts to identify the taxi involved. In a matter of minutes, they successfully located the specific taxi and established communication with the driver. Brigadier Khalfan Obaid Al Jallaf, Director of Dubai Tourist Police, commended the police team's rapid response and efficient coordination with the taxi driver, leading to the recovery of the money pouch.
The tourist utilized the Dubai Police Tourist Service on the Dubai Police app to report the loss, demonstrating the seamless communication and support provided by the authorities. Jallaf applauded the taxi driver for his honesty and cooperation in facilitating the return of the entire amount to the tourist.
Expressing his joy and gratitude, the tourist commended Dubai Police for their prompt and effective handling of the situation, ensuring the swift recovery of his lost funds.
