France is considering a ban on sneaky disposable e-cigarettes

The French parliament has endorsed a plan to ban single-use electronic cigarettes, which are seen as gateways to nicotine addiction for youths and are environmentally destructive. The lower house National Assembly voted unanimously in favor of the motion late Monday, which still requires approval from France's upper house Senate and the EU Commission. Pre-filled disposable e-cigarettes known as "puffs" are popular among young people because they can have a high nicotine level, come in a variety of flavors, and are inexpensive. "They pave the way for serious addiction," stated Health Minister Aurelien Rousseau. "They're ridiculously cheap, the fruity and sugary flavors are appealing, and their small size makes them easy to hide from parents," said deputy Francesca Pasquini, who proposed the bill last November.
