At least 16 were killed after a Philippines bus fell off a ravine
At least 16 people were killed when a bus carrying dozens of passengers in the Philippines lost its brakes and plunged down a cliff in the province of Antique, according to local officials on Wednesday. Governor Rhodora Cadiao of Antique informed the DZRH radio station that four patients were stable and eight were in serious condition in hospitals. There were fewer verified deaths than the 28 that the local media had initially claimed. The passenger bus from the province of Iloilo was traveling to the town of Culasi in Antique on Tuesday afternoon when, due to a faulty braking system on a narrow route, it fell 30 meters into a ravine, according to Cadiao. "That region is known as the killer curve. "That was the second bus that had already fallen off there," Cadiao continued. The province administration of Antique said on Facebook that all bodies that were visible at the scene had already been removed. As a result, rescue efforts had come to an end.
