AED 60.6 million is pledged by MBRGI to support forcibly displaced
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) has committed AED 60.6 million for the upcoming year to support forcibly displaced persons. This financial support will be provided through direct food aid and sustainable livelihood programs implemented in various countries globally.
Out of the pledged amount, approximately AED 37 million will contribute to the UN Refugee Agency's (UNHCR) humanitarian relief and sustainable development efforts in eight countries: Armenia, Bangladesh, Botswana, India, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Tunisia. Another AED 5.5 million will support UNHCR's projects for Sudanese refugees in Chad, with a specific focus on addressing healthcare, water, and sanitation needs in refugee camps.
The Global Refugee Forum serves as the world's largest international gathering on refugee issues, bringing together UN Member States, relevant stakeholders, international and local organizations, civil society, financial institutions, academia, and the private sector.
