Ukrainian soldiers damaged a Russian naval vessel that was stationed in seized Crimea

A Ukrainian airstrike has inflicted significant damage on a Russian naval vessel stationed in occupied Crimea, as officially acknowledged by Russia's Defense Ministry on Tuesday. Contrary to official statements, images and videos circulating on social media depict the destruction of the vessel, named "Novocherkassk," with debris scattered over an extensive area.

The "Novocherkassk," a 112-meter (360-foot) ship with the capacity to transport 10 tanks and approximately 225 servicemen, was targeted by Ukrainian forces. According to the Ukrainian army, the vessel had been recently utilized to transport weapons and soldiers to the Zaporizhzhia region, partially under Russian control.

Meanwhile, in southeast Ukraine, troops have strategically withdrawn from the city of Marinka in the Donetsk region. Responding to Russia's claims of complete control over Marinka, Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhnyas emphasized that such tactical movements are inherent to the nature of war. Zaluzhnyas stated, "This is a war, so the fact that we have now retreated to the outskirts of Marinka and set up positions behind Marinka in some areas is nothing that can cause any public outcry. Sadly, this is what war is like."

As the conflict intensifies, Ukraine mourns the loss of its soldiers, with funerals becoming a frequent occurrence. On Tuesday, the city of Irpin witnessed the funeral service for Yuriy Antonenko, a 31-year-old Ukrainian soldier killed in the fighting near Marinka. Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn, present at the ceremony, noted that the city is witnessing three to four funerals weekly, emphasizing that this moment is a pivotal juncture for Ukraine—a fight for the country's existence. The mourning congregation reflects the somber reality faced by Ukrainians as they grapple with the consequences of the ongoing conflict.
