"Dubai Media Council Unveils New Strategy and Action Plan Approved by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed"
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, has given his approval to the new strategy and action plan for Dubai Media (formerly known as Dubai Media Incorporated). The decision was made during a Council meeting held at the Dubai Design District, with the action plan featuring a detailed timeline for the implementation of the strategy.
Aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the strategy aims to elevate the role of media as a key partner in the nation's development journey. The overarching goals include fostering creativity, strengthening strategic partnerships, and solidifying Dubai's position as a talent hub in the media industry.
Key objectives outlined in the strategy encompass doubling the media sector's contribution to Dubai's GDP, attracting more foreign direct investment, enhancing intellectual property in local media, nurturing media competencies and talent, and increasing the participation of nationals in the sector. The Council emphasized the importance of expanding strategic partnerships with private sector companies to support the overall development of the industry in Dubai.
Sheikh Ahmed highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance Dubai's media sector, ensuring its alignment with global industry changes. He stressed the significance of fostering creativity, encouraging collaboration, and attracting investments to strengthen the media economy and position Dubai as a global media hub. Sheikh Ahmed urged the Council to intensify initiatives that develop the capabilities of national talent, citing programs like the Mohammed Bin Rashid Scholarship for Emirati Media Students as crucial for nurturing future professionals.
Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, outlined the comprehensive new strategy encompassing 21 projects, tracked through 117 key indicators. The strategy focuses on upskilling media talent, forging partnerships, attracting foreign investments, infrastructure development, technology adoption, legislative aspects, and the review of all content produced by Dubai Media. Al-Marri emphasized the innovative approach to enhance Dubai's media competitiveness while preserving its local character.
During the meeting, discussions also centered on enhancing the Mohammed Bin Rashid Scholarship for Emirati Media Students, optimizing internship opportunities, and expanding partnerships. Additionally, the objectives of the Dubai Film and TV Commission were addressed.
The meeting, attended by Board Members of the Dubai Media Council and Her Excellency Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Council, signifies a commitment to advancing Dubai's media landscape in alignment with contemporary global standards and trends.
