The UAE extradites a British businessman wanted for massive tax fraud to Denmark

Extradited from the United Arab Emirates, a British hedge fund trader based in Dubai was wanted by Danish police for allegedly masterminding a tax scam worth $1.7 billion, deemed to be among the biggest in the Nordic nation. The announcement was made on Wednesday. Masterminding a scam that ran from 2012 to 2015 in which foreign entities purported to acquire shares in Danish companies and claimed tax rebates for which they were ineligible, financier Sanjay Shah was found guilty in May in Dubai. His extradition had been approved by a United Arab Emirates court. He was on a jet from Dubai that arrived in Copenhagen early on Wednesday, according to Danish media. According to the Justice Ministry, Danish police officers flew to Dubai to retrieve him.
