Iran claims to have launched an animal-carrying spacecraft into orbit in preparation for sending people on missions.
To get ready for human flights in the upcoming years, Iran said on Wednesday that it has launched an animal-carrying spacecraft into orbit. Telecommunications Minister Isa Zarepour was cited in an official IRNA news agency report as saying that the capsule was launched 130 kilometers (80 miles) into orbit. According to Zarepour, the 500 kg (1,000 lb) capsule is being launched to launch Iranian astronauts into space shortly. He did not specify if the pill included any animals. According to him, Iran intends to launch people into space by 2029 following more animal testing, as reported by state TV.
