The government of Kuwait named Sheikh Mishal in memory of Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad
Following the passing of His Highness the Emir, Kuwait's Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, presided over an extraordinary cabinet meeting where he mourned the late Emir and lauded his accomplishments.
Expressing deep sorrow, the Prime Minister conveyed the Council of Ministers' heartfelt condolences on the demise of "our father and leader of our march," His Highness the Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He noted the Emir's dedicated journey and loyalty to the nation and its people.
According to the Kuwait News Agency, the Prime Minister somberly recounted the sacrifices made by the deceased Emir throughout his life, emphasizing his contributions to the nation's development across various domains and in service to the country and its people.
Following the Prime Minister's remarks, Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, Essa Al-Kanderi, announced by the Constitution that His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah would assume the role of Emir of the State of Kuwait.
Al-Kanderi further disclosed that an official three-day holiday would commence on Sunday and conclude on Tuesday, December 19, accompanied by a 40-day mourning period. He prayed for Allah's blessings upon His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, recognizing his wisdom and dedication to the nation and its people.
