Liverpool claimed the top spot in the Premier League once again, securing a 2-0 victory against Burnley on Boxing Day. Under Jurgen Klopp's management, Liverpool has won all six Premier League games on Boxing Day, and this latest win propelled them to 42 points from 19 games, overtaking Arsenal.

Darwin Nunez provided a quick start for Liverpool with a precise finish after six minutes, marking his first Premier League goal in almost two months. Despite goals by Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott being ruled out after VAR checks and Mohamed Salah hitting the crossbar, Liverpool dominated the first half. However, it was not until Diogo Jota's 90th-minute goal that the victory was sealed, offering relief to Klopp as Burnley rallied in the second half.

Jurgen Klopp commented on the intense nature of the game and expressed satisfaction with Liverpool's performance, highlighting the team's exceptional play. Liverpool's 42 points from the first part of the season pleased Klopp, acknowledging that it was not perfect but satisfactory.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United faced disappointment with a surprising 3-1 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, where Chris Wood scored a hat-trick against his former club. This marked Newcastle's fifth loss in seven games in all competitions, slipping behind the top four.

Forest's win, their first under new coach Nuno Espirito Santo, lifted them to 16th in the standings with 17 points. Newcastle's struggles continued, leaving them seventh on 29 points after their fourth defeat in the last five league games.

In other matches, Luton Town won a crucial relegation battle against Sheffield United with a 3-2 victory, propelled by two own goals. Bournemouth secured a 3-0 victory over Fulham, moving into the top half of the table.

The Premier League action on Boxing Day showcased both expected victories and surprising results, adding further excitement and unpredictability to the ongoing season.
