Dubai International Airport (DXB) capped off an unprecedented year of accomplishments and remarkable growth by welcoming a staggering 87 million guests in annual traffic for 2023. This surpasses not only Dubai Airport's yearly forecast but also pre-pandemic levels of traffic, solidifying DXB's position as the world's premier airport for international passenger traffic.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, praised DXB's exceptional performance, attributing it to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He emphasized Dubai's emergence as a global tourism destination and its pivotal role in global commerce, facilitated by unparalleled connectivity and logistics infrastructure.

DXB's commitment to passenger experience and innovative technologies has set new benchmarks in airport services, aligning with Dubai's economic agenda to consolidate its status as a top global city for tourism and business. Strategic initiatives and investments in infrastructure, technology, and customer service have propelled DXB's growth under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, expressed pride in DXB's achievements, highlighting the dedication of its team and partners. He emphasized a renewed commitment to enhancing the airport experience through expansion and refurbishment projects, ensuring DXB remains a global leader in guest experience and aviation excellence.

Traffic at DXB surged in 2023, reaching nearly 87 million guests, driven by robust growth in the second half of the year. December emerged as the busiest month, with the airport witnessing significant year-on-year growth in the fourth quarter. DXB maintained connectivity to 262 destinations across 104 countries through 102 international carriers.

Operational excellence and guest experience remained paramount, with DXB processing a record-high volume of bags while maintaining a remarkable success rate. The airport scored its highest result in the Airport Service Quality program, reflecting its commitment to enhancing guest satisfaction and business performance.

Top destination countries included India, KSA, and the UK, while London retained its position as the top destination. Cargo handling saw a slight decrease compared to the previous year, but fourth-quarter volumes showed promising growth. Flight movements at the hub reached an all-time high, reflecting the double-digit increase in guest numbers.

Looking ahead, DXB is poised to continue its growth trajectory, with forecasts indicating a record-breaking 88.8 million guests expected in 2024, reaffirming its status as a global aviation leader.
