As DSF opens today, 800 drones will take to the skies in Dubai
The 29th edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) is poised for a spectacular launch tomorrow, promising a vibrant transformation of Dubai into a dazzling canvas of lights. Spanning 38 days until January 14, the festival will showcase the third edition of Dubai Lights, featuring captivating drone shows and light art installations. The festival kicks off with the Dubai Lights DSF Drone Show, a free event presented by Emarat Petroleum. Taking place at The Beach, JBR, and Bluewaters at 8 pm and 10 pm, the synchronized drone show will utilize cutting-edge technology to paint the sky with captivating narratives. This year's show introduces two new displays each night, involving a staggering 800 drones that will create a symphony of colors and shapes, crafting stories that leave a lasting impression on spectators. In an innovative collaboration with acclaimed animator Mohammed Saeed Harib, the show will integrate Emirati culture into its narrative.
The first theme combines the magic of fairytales with the vibrancy of local traditions, revolving around the significance of the pearl in Dubai—a symbol of wealth, prosperity, and the allure of the city known as the 'Pearl of the World.' The story unfolds through the landscape, highlighting cultural nuances as the Pearl symbolizes the dreams, perseverance, and ambition of the city. The second theme propels viewers into the future of Dubai, narrating the captivating tale of an Emirati space explorer's journey.

Audiences will witness the explorer navigating a futuristic Dubai adorned with sustainable spaces, towering skyscrapers, and modern advancements, showcasing the city's vision and determination to push boundaries with innovative developments.
Dubai Lights is set to return, illuminating the city with unique artworks that epitomize creativity and artistic expression. This year, a new addition to the spectacle is the inflatable duo, TheAnooki, set to light up Hatta, Etisalat MOTB, d3, and Al Seef for the first time in Dubai.
This transformation will turn both the creative hub and the historic site into a luminous playground, introducing a touch of enchantment to these locations. Created by French designers Moetu Batlle and David Passegand, TheAnooki duo serves as messengers for the environment, raising awareness about climate change while captivating visitors with their radiant presence. For another captivating installation, make your way to City Centre Mirdif, where Modesh and Dana will take center stage.
The giant inflatables of Dubai’s beloved Modesh and Dana will bring a vibrant glow to the mall, spreading their infectious spirit of fun and discovery to all who visit this iconic shopping destination.
