The UAE is firmly integrating long-term sustainability into the healthcare sector through strategic programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing resilience throughout the value chain, as per the preliminary findings of an upcoming white paper by TECOM Group PJSC’s science-focused ecosystem, Dubai Science Park, in collaboration with EY.

The UAE is not only envisioning the future of the healthcare industry but is also establishing new benchmarks for the global community. This is achieved through a comprehensive approach driven by the principles of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) excellence, equipping the healthcare sector to address future challenges. Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park at TECOM Group PJSC, emphasized the industry's impact on the global community, stating, "Reimagining contemporary diagnostics mechanisms and the industry’s workforce across research, manufacturing, and service delivery is essential to safeguard the resilience and longevity of healthcare systems." Several initiatives are being implemented to enhance healthcare resilience in the UAE, encompassing workforce development, environmental awareness, and global collaboration, positioning the country as a leader in healthcare innovation.

The UAE's commitment to cultivating local talent and fostering a knowledge-based economy is a focal point in the healthcare sector. Initiatives like Nafis and Dubai Health Authority’s ‘Health Talents’ underscore the country's dedication to Emiratisation, creating a skilled workforce in pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and healthcare delivery. Strategic frameworks such as the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’ and the Dubai Research and Development Programme are facilitating knowledge-driven sustainability innovation across the healthcare supply chain.

Dubai's recent ranking as eighth in the Global Power City Index 2023 and initiatives like Golden Visas are further streamlining the entry of skilled professionals, including doctors, medical engineers, and researchers from around the world, complementing the local workforce.
