To improve Disabled access to beaches, Abu Dhabi has launched sand-to-sea paths
Abu Dhabi is utilizing green technology to provide wheelchair users with access to many of its beaches. People with impairments may now enjoy the waters independently thanks to the installation of remote control-operated ramps by the Department of Municipalities and Transport in collaboration with Mubadala, the emirate's sovereign investment arm.
The Greek business Seatrac built the solar-powered tracks, which have a chair that takes people from the beach to the sea. Beachgoers may lower themselves into the water and raise themselves back into the chair using the ramp's rails.
More than 200 Greek beaches have already adopted the state-of-the-art gadget. At Corniche Public Beach, Corniche Family Beach, Corniche Sahil Beach, Al Bateen Public Beach, and Al Bateen Ladies' Beach, the Seatrac system will be introduced. The creative project supports the broader objectives of the UAE government to build a more inclusive society for those with disabilities of all kinds.
Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, director general of operational affairs at the DMT, stated, "As we join forces with Mubadala, our partnership is more than a collaboration – it's a shared commitment to elevate Abu Dhabi's quality of life." "We see a time when our strategic partnership leads the way in promoting inclusivity, environmental sustainability, and community well-being."
The initiative is in keeping with Mubadala's aim to raise living conditions for communities around the city, according to Homaid Al Shimmari, chief corporate and human capital officer and deputy group chief executive. "Mubadala is thrilled to support this significant initiative and has an unwavering commitment to creating a positive impact in the communities we serve," he stated.
"Our collaborations with the government and other organizations are contributing to the advancement of the emirate's objectives and guaranteeing a sustainable legacy that will promote inclusivity and communal well-being for all Abu Dhabi inhabitants."
The DMT and Mubadala's innovative beach design is the cornerstone of their initiatives to enhance public areas. As part of the cooperation, 26 freshwater drinking fountains will be put in Abu Dhabi parks to lower the usage of single-use plastic water bottles.
