In alignment with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to bolster Dubai's infrastructure to match its continuous growth, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated the Al Khail Road Improvement Project. Valued at AED700 million and overseen by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of the Executive Council, this project is poised to revolutionize Dubai's road network.
The project entails the construction of bridges spanning 3,300 meters and road improvement works covering 6,820 meters across seven key locations along Al Khail Road. These locations include Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadeer Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle. The primary objective is to expand current intersections and bridges, enhancing the road's capacity by approximately 19,600 vehicles per hour. This enhancement aims to streamline traffic flow, eliminate congestion, and reduce travel times by up to 30%.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, emphasized the strategic significance of the project. He stated, “Al Khail Road Improvement Project stands out among the strategic projects aimed at enhancing the capacity of roads that support Dubai's major thoroughfares.”
The project's scope includes:
Zabeel: Constructing a three-lane bridge and improving surface roads to enhance traffic flow from Zabeel Palace Street and Oud Metha Road.
Meydan: Building a two-lane bridge and surface road improvements to optimize traffic from Al Meydan Road.
Al Quoz 1: Constructing a two-lane bridge and enhancing surface roads to facilitate smoother traffic from Al Meydan Road.
