Nigeria is shocked after 85 civilians were killed by a military drone strike

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, expressed horror when a military drone accidentally hit civilians, killing at least 85 people. The president ordered a probe after a drone strike on Sunday when locals were enjoying a Muslim holiday in the village of Tudun Biri, and the army later admitted to its error. Although emergency personnel and locals said that 85 people, many of them women and children, had died, the army did not provide any official death toll. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) released a statement saying, "The Northwest Zonal Office has received details from the local authorities that 85 dead bodies have so far been buried while the search is still ongoing." A further 66 patients, according to NEMA, were receiving hospital care. Women, kids, and the elderly made up a large number of the casualties; they had been attending a religious celebration.
