India has agreed to withdraw its troops from the Maldives

The president of the strategically placed archipelago, the Maldives, said that India had fulfilled a pledge he made before the most recent elections by agreeing to remove its soldiers from the island nation. Although he was elected in September to serve as a stand-in for a pro-China predecessor who was imprisoned on corruption charges, President Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he does not want to upset the balance of power in the area by substituting Chinese soldiers for Indian ones. A statement from the president's office stated late on Sunday that "an agreement has been reached to withdraw Indian military personnel, following a series of constructive meetings and dialogues with the Indian government." Three excellent aircraft are being flown by Indian soldiers as they monitor the marine area. The Maldives, primarily recognized as one of the priciest vacation spots in South Asia with immaculate white beaches and exclusive resorts, have also emerged as a major geopolitical player. The nation's network of 1,192 small coral islands stretches around 800 kilometers (500 miles) across the equator and is traversed by global east-west shipping routes. According to Muizzu's office, the army pullout deal was "in progress at a technical level." It emphasized its "dedication to utilizing diplomatic channels."
