In the Toshakhana case, former Pakistani PM Imran Khan's pre-arrest bail was dismissed

An accountability court in Islamabad has rejected the pre-arrest bail plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case, as reported by ARY News on Wednesday. The judge, Muhammad Bashir, announced the reserved verdict on Khan's pre-arrest bail plea in the case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General, Muzaffar Abbasi, confirmed that the bail petition of the PTI founder was rejected, and arrest orders would be implemented. The anti-corruption watchdog intends to seek the accused's remand tomorrow.

In a separate development, Imran Khan and PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi were indicted in the cipher case on Wednesday, according to Geo News. The special court established under the Official Secrets Act 2023 framed charges against the PTI leaders, as confirmed by Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain.

Earlier this week, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved its verdict on Khan's plea seeking the suspension of his conviction in the Toshakhana case. The District and Sessions Court had previously sentenced the former prime minister and PTI founder to a three-year jail term in the Toshakhana criminal case, along with a 100,000 Pakistani rupee fine and a five-year ban on holding public office.

The court found Khan guilty of submitting fake details of Toshakhana gifts to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and engaging in corrupt practices. The IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Jahangiri reserved the verdict after hearing arguments from both sides.
