Former assistant accuses Vin Diesel of sexual abuse; he fired her hours later, the former assistant claims.
Vin Diesel's former assistant has accused the Fast & Furious actor of sexually abusing her in 2010. She said that she felt like a "piece of trash" after the purported encounter.
Former assistant Astra Jonasson has accused Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel of sexual battery, alleging that the actor forced himself on her in a hotel suite in Atlanta while working on Fast Five in 2010. According to Jonasson's lawsuit, Diesel allegedly forced her onto his bed, groped her, and engaged in a sexual act. She claims that she tried to escape but was fired from her job a few hours later, feeling degraded and worthless.
Vin Diesel's representatives have not responded to requests for comment. The lawsuit contends that Jonasson was terminated because she resisted Diesel's advances, suggesting that she was used for his sexual desires. The incident allegedly occurred after Diesel entertained multiple women in his hotel suite.
Jonasson, who remained silent for years due to fear of industry repercussions, is now suing Diesel and his company for creating a hostile work environment, negligent supervision, wrongful termination, and other claims. Her lawyers argue that powerful individuals in the industry must be held accountable to combat sexual harassment.
This accusation adds to the growing list of prominent figures in the entertainment industry facing allegations of sexual misconduct since the #MeToo movement gained momentum in 2017, following revelations about disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
Vin Diesel has portrayed Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise since its inception in 2001. The movies have achieved immense success at the box office, with the past two films each grossing over $1 billion. Fast X, the franchise's tenth installment featuring Diesel, opened with $67.5 million earlier this year.
