Care Taker PM of Pakistan reaches Dubai to attend COP-28
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, landed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Wednesday to attend the 28th Conference of Parties of the United Nations (COP-28). The prime minister was greeted at Dubai's Al-Maktoum airport by Pakistan's ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, UAE Minister for Justice Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, and the Pakistani diplomatic personnel, according to a news statement from the PM Office Media Wing. Along with attending the World Climate Action Summit on December 1-2, Kakar will lead the Pakistani mission to the 28th Conference of Parties (COP-28). Participating at COP-28 will be acting ministers of foreign affairs Jalil Abbas Jilani, finance, and climate change Ahmed Irfan Aslam, energy minister Muhammad Ali, and caretaker minister of foreign policy Dr. Shamshad Akhtar. Starting today, Thursday, the COP-28 conference will take place and last until December 12. The term "COP" refers to parties that have ratified the 1992 UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which was signed by more than 150 countries.
