More than $2.4 billion has been pledged to protect forests and oceans as well as enhance the lives of 1.6 billion people afflicted by neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) as of the fourth day of the UN Climate Change Conference, COP28. The UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP28, Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, reaffirmed the importance of nature in climate action from COP28 to COP30 by announcing $1.7 billion in funding for environmental protection. In the meanwhile, more than $777 million was pledged by global donors to support the control, eradication, and eradication of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) from the African continent at the inaugural COP Health Day. To concurrently accomplish climate and biodiversity targets, the COP28 Presidency and its partners unveiled several novel and ambitious projects during the World Climate Action Summit, with an initial commitment of $1.7 billion in financing. On the way to COP30 in Belem, President Luis Lula da Silva of Brazil and the COP28 Presidency established a two-year cooperation to mobilize more resources and political support for nature.
