The Polish community in the UAE is experiencing significant growth, with an influx of businesses and families choosing to settle in the country, according to senior officials. On Tuesday, the Polish Business Council in Dubai was officially inaugurated at Dubai Chambers, marking a milestone in efforts to strengthen the ties between Poland and the UAE.
"This is immensely significant for us as it enhances Polish visibility in Dubai and the UAE markets," stated Jakub Slawek, the Polish ambassador, in an interview with The National. He emphasized the importance of this initiative in fostering stronger business relations and expressed his hope for increased participation of Polish businesses in the UAE.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Polish community in the Emirates has nearly doubled from about 5,000 to 9,000 citizens. While Polish software companies currently dominate the market, efforts are underway to attract firms from various sectors, including the food and renewable energy industries.
"The UAE presents an attractive and competitive environment for business growth," remarked Mr. Slawek, highlighting the trend of expanding Polish presence in the region. He anticipates a continued influx of Polish individuals and businesses, drawn by the strategic location of the UAE as a gateway to Africa and its diverse multicultural landscape.
Poland has strengthened its cooperation with the UAE in recent years, with President Andrzej Duda making two visits in 2023 to discuss economic and investment cooperation. The UAE's comprehensive economic partnership agreements with various countries further facilitate trade by eliminating barriers and streamlining customs procedures.
Jacek Tomczak, Poland’s Deputy Minister for Development and Technology, emphasized the innovative nature of the UAE and underscored the importance of the Polish Business Council in Dubai as a platform for investment attraction and collaboration.
