His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, initiates the establishment of a new Thukher Club in Al Khawaneej, dedicated to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of senior citizens in Dubai. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, and Chairman of Dubai’s Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs, has issued directives for the establishment of a new Thukher Club in the Al Khawaneej area of Dubai. This club aims to serve as a vibrant community hub dedicated to promoting the well-being and quality of life of senior citizens.
Expressing his vision, Sheikh Hamdan stated, “The creation of a new Thukher Club for senior citizens is in alignment with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aimed at enhancing the welfare of senior citizens and providing them with optimal care and support. It also resonates closely with the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which focuses on fostering happier and more cohesive families.”
Highlighting the significant contributions of senior citizens to Dubai's success story, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the importance of cherishing and respecting them. He stressed Dubai's commitment to ensuring their integration and active engagement in society, underscoring the need for appreciation, support, and empowerment to facilitate a high quality of life for seniors.
The Thukher Club, spanning over 20,000 square feet, will house a wellness center offering personalized nutrition and fitness services. Additionally, it will serve as a social and cultural nexus featuring amenities such as a library, theater, and smart platforms facilitating easy access to government services for senior citizens. The center will also promote intergenerational connections through an interactive café.
Designed to provide comprehensive services, the club will comprise three main sections focusing on promoting well-being, health, and fitness, and fostering stronger community bonds among senior citizens.
The Thukher initiative is a collaborative effort involving strategic partners such as the Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Digital Dubai Authority, Dubai Police, the Department of Finance, Dubai Municipality, the Community Development Authority, Dubai Health, and the Dubai Sports Council. These partnerships aim to promote physical well-being, good nutrition, and cultural enrichment among senior citizens, with the incorporation of Dubai Public Libraries branches offering traditional and digital library services.
His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, emphasized the significance of family welfare in national development, underlining the role of the new Thukher Club in Al Khawaneej in catering to the diverse needs of senior citizens.
Similarly, other officials including Her Excellency Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority, and His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, commended the initiative for its alignment with the broader vision of promoting happiness, familial unity, and comprehensive care for all community members, especially senior citizens.
