Superintendent of Police (SP) Ijaz Khan succumbed to injuries sustained during an encounter with terrorists in Mardan's Zada Mata area, while three other officials, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were wounded.

The clash erupted as law enforcement agencies engaged in a fierce firefight with terrorists. SP Ijaz Khan tragically lost his life due to the terrorists' indiscriminate firing, confirmed by a spokesperson from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

The injured officials, including the DSP, were promptly transported to the hospital for urgent medical care.

According to reports, the terrorists' gunfire inflicted severe injuries on the law enforcement personnel, necessitating immediate medical attention.

During the operation, the police retaliated against the terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of two wanted militants.

Sources within the police department revealed that the operation was intelligence-driven, aimed at targeting terrorists in the Katling area of Mardan.

One significant achievement of the operation was the elimination of the notorious terrorist Mohsin Qadir, dealing a significant blow to terrorist networks operating in the region.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayers for the martyred SP Ijaz Khan were solemnly observed at the Police Lines, with District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan and other dignitaries from the law enforcement fraternity in attendance.
