A Greek woman was fatally attacked by three shepherd dogs belonging to her neighbor
In the village of Neochorouda, located approximately 10 miles northwest of Thessaloniki, Greece, a 50-year-old woman was fatally attacked by three shepherd dogs in her garden around midday. The dogs had escaped through a hole in their owner's fence, situated about 80m (262ft) away, and made their way to the woman's garden where she was working.
A man, described by the police as deaf-mute, was assisting her at the time but was unable to hear the screams due to the distance. Despite the arrival of emergency workers with an ambulance to provide treatment, the woman, who suffered severe mauling and heavy bleeding, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 37-year-old owner of the dogs has been arrested and is scheduled to face a prosecutor on Monday morning. The dogs, responsible for the fatal attack on a 50-year-old woman in Neochorouda, Greece, are currently in custody in a kennel and are slated to be euthanized. The victim's two teenage sons, aged 17 and 18, reportedly heard her screams but were unable to intervene in time.
"They have left many times and chased people many times," he added. "It is not the first time."
