"Passenger Bus Attack Claims Two Lives and Injures Four in Hangu, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa" province of Pakistan
In a distressing incident, a passenger bus en route from Peshawar to Parachinar in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu district was targeted by unidentified assailants, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives and leaving four others critically injured, as reported by Express News.
The attack occurred within the jurisdiction of the City Police Station, where armed individuals opened fire on the bus during its journey to Parachinar. Two passengers succumbed to the attack on the spot, while six others sustained severe injuries. Swift action was taken to transfer the wounded to DHQ Hospital Hangu for immediate medical attention.
District Police Officer (DPO) Nisar Ahmed Khan visited the hospital to express condolences and announced the initiation of a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this heinous act. The hospital authorities have reported that the condition of the four injured passengers remains critical.
This incident follows a similar tragic event earlier this month, where a passenger bus on Karakoram Highway in Chilas town, Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan, came under gunfire. In that incident, at least 10 lives were lost, and 25 others sustained injuries when the bus collided with an oncoming truck after being targeted by unidentified gunmen.
Diamer Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Arif Ahmad stated that the incident occurred at 6:30 pm in the Hudur area of Chilas. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The recent spate of bus attacks raises concerns about the safety of public transportation, and authorities are working diligently to address and prevent such incidents in the future.
