A British boy missing for 6 years has been found in France

A representative for the local authorities informed CNN on Thursday that a British youngster, the whereabouts of whom have been unknown for six years, was discovered early on Wednesday in an area of southwest France.

According to a police appeal published in February 2019, Alex Batty was taken on vacation in Spain in 2017 with his grandfather and mother, "who did not have legal parental guardianship." Since then, he has not been seen since he was eleven years old. The statement said Batty was discovered in Haute-Garonne, close to Toulouse.

According to the Toulouse public prosecutor's office, the family has verified the adolescent's identification, and he is scheduled to return to England soon, according to CNN affiliate BFMTV. The Sun newspaper in the UK was informed by his legal guardian, Susan Caruana, that she had a conversation with Alex.

"I'm overjoyed. He is doing fine, according to our conversation," Caruana stated. "He is presently in the custody of the French police." It is shocking. According to a statement released by Greater Manchester Police on Thursday, they had been alerted about "a possible sighting in France of Alex Batty, who went missing in 2017."

The police also stated that to verify the "authenticity of the report," officers in the English town of Oldham are in contact with French authorities. "This is a complex and long-running investigation, and we need to make further inquiries as well as put appropriate safeguarding measures in place," a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman stated.
