Syed Irfan Ali, the Customs spokesperson, disclosed that the vigilant staff stationed at the International Arrival Lounge apprehended a female passenger arriving from Sharjah on Air Arabia flight G9-542. Suspicions were raised when she attempted to pass through the green channel, prompting Customs officials to inquire about her luggage. Unsatisfied with her responses, they subjected her belongings to a scan, revealing empty boxes of mobile phones and graphics cards. Consequently, the Customs team redirected the luggage to the examination counter.
After a thorough search, officials discovered 23 iPhone 15 Pro Max devices concealed on her person. The combined value of these devices amounted to Rs 9.2 million, with an additional payable duty tax of Rs 4.3 million.
Ali confirmed the woman's arrest, and the seized mobile phones were confiscated as part of the successful intervention by the Customs staff.
