Dubai New Year Eve updates

Dubai Police has unveiled an extensive safety plan for New Year's Eve, deploying thousands of officers and implementing road closures well in advance of the midnight celebrations. Key routes in Downtown Dubai, such as Al Asayel Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and Burj Khalifa Street, will be sealed off from 4 pm to manage the influx of attendees for the annual Burj Khalifa fireworks display.

To accommodate the surge in commuters, Dubai's Metro's Green and Red line network will operate continuously for 40 hours starting at 8 am on Sunday. The Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station will close at 5 pm or earlier if capacity is exceeded. The Dubai Tram will also be operational for the same duration from 9 am on New Year's Eve. Free public buses and additional parking options will be provided to ensure smooth transportation during the celebrations.

Dubai Police's assistant commander-in-chief of operations and chairman of the Events Security Committee, Maj Gen Abdullah Al Ghaithi, emphasized the doubling of logistic preparations this year due to increased tourist and local visitors. A total of 10,000 officers will be stationed at 32 firework display sites, including Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and Hatta.

For enhanced public safety, 950 Civil Defence officers and 178 ambulances will be on standby throughout the evening. Additionally, 19 support tents have been set up across Dubai to handle lost and found reports and provide assistance from civil defense, ambulance, and police staff. Temporary toilets and food trucks have been strategically placed in various areas to improve the visitor experience.

Dubai Police encouraged attendees to avoid carrying large bags to expedite security checks and urged compliance with laws and safety rules. Maj Gen Al Ghaithi emphasized the importance of leaving early to prevent congestion and not leaving children unattended.

Large screens will be erected in designated locations for laborers to enjoy firework displays, contributing to a festive and inclusive New Year's celebration in Dubai.
